Bill Baldwin's Religion

The religion of each individual person is, in fact, different. Further, each person has some religion. By religion, I mean that driving force which give a person a sense of mission, a reason to continue living.

In today's paper (June 14, 2000) the "Over the Hedge" comic points out that "In a couple of hundred million years, when the sun goes nova, vaporizing us in seconds, it'll all come to not a whole lot." Seen in this light, it is obvious that there is no purpose if that is all there is to it. (Ignoring the fact that most of the pridictions I've seen indicate the sun will go out, freezing everyone, rather than go nova.)

But there is a reason. Exploring this reason is the purpose and goal of religion. I would also add that it is, in my language, the meaning of religion.
