One group effected quite heavily politics in the United States are children. By children I will mean any person not yet old enough to vote. Historically, children have been raised by their parents, or community in some cases. That is, children have been fed, clothed, taught, etc. by their parents or community. Yet children themselves have very little input or control over how they are raised, or what they are taught. In this sense, parents and community are like God. That is, they can make decisions which will mean literally life for death to a child, and the child cannot do anything about it. That is, children can be taught how to life together in a society safely, or they can be taught how to kill each other. I have seen it said that most people, teachers included, do not think about what they are actually teaching children. That is, one has a math class, and the only thing the teacher teaches is that math is hard. I recall a literature class where the "lesson" the teacher appeared to be presenting is that literature is not interesting, and hard. This section deals with how politics impacts on children, and how I think it could be improved. |
