These are some of the movies which I think are significant. This does not mean they are good, that I own them on DVD, or that these are all the movies I've viewed. However, in every case there is a significance about the movie. Nor should this be taken to mean that I think these are the only movies either I, or someone else, should see. There are many movies I watch which do not rise to the level where I would call them significant, but rather, they are enjoyable, escapism as it were. (There is nothing at all wrong with escapism every once in a while.) Many movies are based on books, and sometime the significance of the movie is that it illustrates, or points to the book. In many cases I have read the book after seeing the movie, and enjoyed the book. Another reason a movie might be significant is that it might illustrate an idea or concept which I find intriguing. In at least one case, it is significant because of an indirect personal connection to the story. All in all, these are movies I think are significant. Someone else might not think these are significant, or they might think other movies I've bypassed are, in fact, significant. This doesn't bother me, I'm not God; I could be wrong, or, more than likely, the term "significant" means something different to someone else. |
